Customer Challenge
ESS Group was growing fast. New business and rising customer expectations meant more vehicles on the road, and a fleet that had once been simple to run now needed a more structured approach.
Each new vehicle tied up capital the business would rather invest in growth, and administration was taking up time the team needed for customers. With more vehicles to manage, ESS Group also wanted clearer visibility of fleet costs, with tighter control of utilisation, compliance and day-to-day operations.
Ultimately, the team decided it needed a partner to help scale the fleet with the business, and a sensible way to introduce electric vehicles where they made sense operationally and financially.
Customer Solution
Partnering with NiftiBusiness, ESS Group moved to a structured vehicle leasing and fleet management model, with NiftiBusiness handling vehicle sourcing, short- and long-term leasing and ongoing administration. The shift to a leased fleet frees the team to focus on core business activities. Per-vehicle spend is now a predictable monthly operating cost, and each vehicle is chosen for its role, efficiency and whole-life cost.
EVs are also being introduced strategically in line with day-to-day operational needs, with further EV additions planned for 2027.

Customer Impact
ESS Group now runs a more efficient fleet with less internal administration and greater control over costs. Capital that would otherwise have been tied up in vehicles is now available for core business growth and customer support.
Vehicle replacement and fleet planning follow a more structured approach, downtime from servicing and repairs has fallen, and the fleet can scale in line with the demands of the business. ESS Group has a better balance between operational needs, cost and sustainability, and a clear pathway towards a more efficient, lower-emission fleet.
Pat Breen, Head of Asset Care at ESS Group commented, “For me, the biggest benefit of working with NiftiBusiness is knowing we have much better control of our fleet and a clear view of our costs. It has made managing the fleet simpler and more cost-efficient, while giving our engineers safe, reliable vehicles that help them work more efficiently and focus on supporting our customers. It also supports where we want to go on sustainability, particularly as we introduce more EVs. Having a modern, consistent fleet on the road is also a strong reflection of the ESS brand. As we continue to grow, having NiftiBusiness alongside us gives me confidence that our fleet can grow with us.”
