Below, we take a closer look at some of Ireland’s most popular LCVs so far this year, including the market-leading Renault Trafic, the ever-reliable Ford Transit Custom, and other standout performers.
1. Renault Traffic
The Renault Trafic claims the top spot as Ireland’s most popular light commercial vehicle, with just over 1,100 registrations recorded by the end of March 2025—representing an impressive 8% share of the LCV market. Renowned for its practicality, the Trafic combines a spacious and intelligently designed interior with a generous loading length of up to 4.15 metres and a cargo volume of up to 8.9 cubic metres. Its versatile layout is ideal for a wide range of business needs, while advanced features like Blind Spot Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control help ensure a safe and confident driving experience. 2. Ford Transit Custom
The Ford Transit Custom takes the second position in the most popular light commercial vehicle (LCV) in Ireland. Renowned for its versatility and innovative features, the Transit Custom offers multiple options, including fully electric, plug-in hybrid petrol, and EcoBlue diesel variants. It boasts a maximum loadspace of up to 6.8 cubic meters and is equipped with advanced technology such as a 13-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4, 5G connectivity, and Ford Pro Telematics for efficient fleet management.
3. Volkswagen Caddy
The Volkswagen Caddy is a compact light commercial vehicle (LCV) that combines practicality with car-like driving dynamics. Built on Volkswagen’s modular MQB platform, the Caddy offers enhanced handling and ride comfort. The standard Caddy cargo area provides up to 3.1 cubic meters of load space, and it is available in both manual and automatic transmission. 5. Peugeot Partner Van
